My IT career journey
2021-2024: Innovation, Data Science, and Thought Leadership
The last few years have been the most transformative. In 2021, I earned certification in Data Science & AI, marking a new chapter in my career. My work on real-world data projects and case studies has solidified my expertise in machine learning and AI, enabling me to deliver data-driven insights that drive business decisions.
In 2022, I expanded my skills in data visualization with tools like Microsoft Power BI and Tableau, along with web analytics, to provide comprehensive solutions that empower businesses to make informed decisions. I also embarked on a new journey as a tech blogger in 2023, where I share my insights and knowledge with a broader audience. My experience with content strategy, along with platforms like Wix and Webflow, has allowed me to create engaging content that resonates with my followers.
In 2024, I returned to my roots in education, tutoring high school students and helping them prepare for important exams like the New York State Regents. This experience has reinforced my belief in the power of education and the importance of nurturing the next generation of IT professionals.
2016-2020: Mastery and Specialization
By 2016, I had become proficient in all stages of project development, from gathering requirements to deployment. My work in agile methodologies, Scrum, and tools like JIRA and Confluence allowed me to manage agile development processes effectively. I also developed a deep understanding of Figma UI design and Learning Management Systems, which enabled me to create user-friendly interfaces that enhanced the learning experience.
During this time, I also ventured into more advanced areas such as Python programming for data science, SQL, and deep learning. My work with no-code app builder software further expanded my toolkit, allowing me to create solutions that were both innovative and accessible to non-technical users.
2011-2015: Leadership and Strategic Development
The early 2010s marked a significant shift in my career as I took on more leadership roles. I began to focus on business development, formulating strategic plans to align company goals with market opportunities. My work in custom web application development and framework-based development allowed me to lead cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and QA testers.
This period also saw me delving into project management, where I honed my skills in managing project budgets, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring that teams worked in harmony to achieve common goals. My ability to translate complicated business needs into detailed technical plans was instrumental in delivering successful projects that met and exceeded client expectations.
2006-2010: Expanding Horizons and Embracing Innovation
As my skills grew, so did my responsibilities. By 2006, I had developed a keen interest in front-end development and user experience (UX) design. My work with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite allowed me to explore the intersection of technology and creativity, which I leveraged to encourage collaboration and innovation within teams.
During this time, I also began to explore the world of digital marketing and e-business technologies. I co-founded an IT startup in 2009, where I applied my knowledge of WordPress, Joomla, and SEO to help businesses establish their online presence. My experience with database management systems and PHP frameworks further deepened my understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), which became a cornerstone of my career.
2001-2005: Foundations and Early Exploration
My journey began in 2001 as a high school teacher, where I taught a wide range of subjects, including English, Global History, and various STEM subjects. These early years instilled in me a love for teaching and a commitment to continuous improvement. As I transitioned into the IT field, I quickly realized the importance of a solid foundation. I immersed myself in learning the fundamentals of computer science, C programming, and object-oriented programming, while also gaining expertise in HTML, CSS, and principles of web design.
These years were crucial in shaping my approach to problem-solving and laying the groundwork for what would become a lifelong career in IT. I began to understand the importance of clear communication, both in the classroom and in the boardroom, which would later prove invaluable in my business ventures.
